Description: A fun and interactive presentation of jazz music that includes demonstrations of each instrument, jazz
history, brief overview of famous jazz musicians, demonstrations of different styles and more. The
quartet, Rob Thorsen-bassist, Gilbert Castellanos-trumpet, Bob Boss-guitar, Richard Sellers- drums
will perform 4-5 songs, in chronological order, each representing a different time period and rhythmic
groove to show how jazz music has evolved. The music presented will include New Orleans style
Dixieland, swing, bebop, Latin, and funk-jazz. Instruments include upright bass, guitar, drums, and
trumpet or saxophone. Bassist/ bandleader Rob Thorsen has been a professional musician for over 20
years and also participates in Young Audiences music programs as well as Classics for Kids. This
is a high energy performance that demonstrates the interactive elements that make jazz music one of
Americas great art forms.
Requirements: Auditorium or room, power outlet, we can provide a PA if none is available.
