Description: Students learn about dance’s ability to help express emotion and how this is something all people
share and have in common. Four words are introduced (fear, joy anger, happiness) and dances are
performed. Students are then asked which dance they feel represented each emotion. Visual aids are
used throughout and together we explore variations of words which express emotion (afraid, excited).
Students also learn and perform a short movement phrase. The dancers introduce themselves and
respond to students’ questions.
