Meet Lorraine Temple, 34 yr. Alaskan who was once described as "CA cheerleader turns dog musher"! A UCSB grad, her journey veered to a life of building a cabin, commercial fishing, mushing dog teams on glaciers and captaining boats that are testimony and inspiration for 1000's of students for over 23 years to Dream big; follow your own unique path!
She brings 2 huskies, sled, gear, power point slide show, large wall maps and a CNN film clip that fuel this powerful, unique assembly. Character qualities of patience, integrity, compassion, diligence & teamwork are woven into the presentation; most important, just 'doing the best you can' per the Growth Mindset philosophy (Carol Dweck) is a core message in this assembly.
Every student receives a bookmark with a painting of Lorraines lead dog and motivational quips relating 'Tales from the Trail' to everyday life. Many educators have proclaimed this assembly "The best our school has ever had!
